Fog light wiring help

Okay so I installed some autozone fogs that just went right into the battery and now when I run them the alternator runs. Is there a way to plug them into the existing fog light connectors so the alternator wont run?

The alternator runs whenever the engine does.

So, you'll have to be a bit more specific.

Is this the only time when you can hear it?

I would double check how you currently have things wired. Make sure there is a decent connection to the battery.

I cannot advise you to hook them up to the stock wiring w/o knowing their power. Anything over stock 55W & it would not be advisable.

Do you hear the actual alternator itself whine, or alternator whine in the speakers?

why not add a relay? Seems your light is drawing too much current.

I have a relay. They are either 65 watt or 55. Can't remember which. And it is the actual alternator whining.

Can you turn the fogs on w/o other lights? If so, does it whine w/just the fogs?

I'm thinking you are tapped into something you shouldn't be.

I can turn the fogs on and off when I have my headlights on and it only whines when I have the fogs on for an extended period of time. Like 10ish minutes.
I have the fogs wired directly to a relay which is connected to the battery and a switch inside the car.

What is ICE? Im not sure about the battery. Ya mine are just hooked to a switch and can only come on with the parking lights or headlights. Kind of a bummer sometimes. I will probably rewire them soon

did you tap into a power cable? i dont have mine wired to a switch, figured it doesnt matter if they are on full time since it'd be safer

The switch is tapped into the cigarette lighter and I am running ICE. Its only an aftermarket head unit with the stock speakers I believe.

If that's the case, you should be able to turn them on at any time.

Im guessing my battery may be a little weak. I just got the car about a year ago or less from a dealer and I doubt they would swap a new battery in. How would I check the battery. Sorry I am not much of an electrical guy.

I have no idea if it is the original. All I know about it is that it is from AC Delco.

I doubt anyone has the original battery. If it was it would say Toyota. AC Delco is GM. You need a volt meter to test the battery. It should be reading close 12.5v to 13v when off and about 13.5v to 14.5v when the engine is on. If it is under 13v when the engine is on it means it is not holding a charge and will die soon. Especially if you listen to the radio with the engine off for a long period of time.

Alright. I tested it with a volt meter awhile ago and it was around 12.45v. I can't remember if it was on or not. I will test it again tomorrow.
