mysterious power draw sent the alarm system haywire, which then killed the ignition. Its at the shop being sorted - they've got it firing up and running fine now but they're tracing the power drain and going from there.

my first ride was a Corrado VR6, I totaled it completely unfortunately
had it with intake, exhaust, wide rims/tires and a KW coilover system and some other minor upgrades
what you are doing here are huge nutts, because this car just isn't made for huge power levels, in case of rigidity(your cage should help here), down force at the back(and this is a very known issue with the Corrado) and weight ratio.
I really hope you'll take my advise seriously and will give yourself an extra portion of care and awareness while going FAST over 120mph(if you brake at higher speeds the ass will try to fly its own way). You should get an extra wing for down force at the back, similar one the ford escort cosworth has.
But cool to see a german car in the US where it becomes exotic and even a FI project of it is really freaky, so are you an VW enthusiast?
How did you work out the synchro AWD conversion?

I am VW enthusiast.
The syncro is easy - you get an AWD car (mk2/mk3 golf, b3 passat) from Canada, chop it to pieces and cram it into the Corrado.
The guy building this car also built a Golf Rallye - he imported a Rallye from Germany, cut it to pieces, gave the shell back when the feds came knocking at his door, and put the moving bits into an American Mk II shell.

8 series was fixed and is running fine - $600 to trace the power drain and get rid of the system.

Wow I love the Golf Rally, there fenders are dope. Had a colleague who had one, the G60 only with a smaller pulley intake chip exhaust was at those days really ready fun to drive...

Looking good. I was thinking about adding a muffler like that to my setup now where the exhaust exits at the rear LCA. Does it kill the drone?

I know yours is a race car, I was more curious for my own setup. Whether or not I should extend the exhaust to the rear bumper or leave it

SCCA classing says it has to terminate behind the driver, so, depends on if you care about classing or just drive around town.
If you just drive it, extend it behind you - otherwise it can be loud exiting underneath the cabin.

Almost done. Need to mount the battery in the rear, install fluids and bleed brakes, plus replace rear strut bushings. Assuming everything goes well we’ll have it out for tuning sometime this week.

we could have gone more, but this is sufficient for my purposes - 350 awhp in a 2500 lb car.
plus, look at the power delivery - no small displacement/giant turbo peak power dyno queen bullshit here - meat under the curve - TORQUE.

Pretty good that it weighs in at 2500 despite the awd system.

Plus there will be plenty of action shots this summer.

nice build!
And no, AWD drive conversions are not that easy, especially when you have to cut out the rear and weld in the rear from the donor car. However since you seem to be just writing a check, yeah it's pretty easy lol.
People on vwvortex would be all over this build thread and will be able to help you when you have issues. Get a thread going if you haven't already.
Anyway good to know I am not the only one on this forum with a Corrado VR project in the garage
Cept mine is more for looks, and yours is for track.
Crappy Cell Phone Pic.
