2012 Annual NorCal Celica Santa Cruz Meet
Latest update:
We are meeting at 11:30AM in McCarthy Ranch by the Best Buy lot.
RENDEZVOUS POINT:
63 Ranch Drive
Milpitas, CA 95035

So the time has come again --
The 2012 Annual NorCal Santa Cruz Meet:
This meet has always been a successful event and the turn out is usually impressive. I've enjoyed hosting this in the past and can't be any more excited than to do it again this year.
JUNE 30, 2012
11:30AM - 10:00PM
*WARNING*
I do have to caution those from the northern cities that this meet will involve some long-distant driving. I highly recommend that you guys plan ahead and find a place to crash should you need to. The drive may take 2+ hours from the RENDEZVOUS point.
*IMPORTANT ITEMS TO BRING*
- Walky-Talky (Very useful for communicating on the road)
- Sweater (May get a little windy/chilly in the evening)
- Money (Pretty common sense, but you'll need this for
parking at the beach, and perhaps to buy food)
- Camera (Beautiful scenery at this meet. You may regret it if
you don't bring your personal own)
- We need a football.
- Personal items such as sunblock, sunglasses etc.
*THE AGENDA*
1. We RENDEZVOUS at the McCarthy Ranch Plaza in Milpitas around the Best Buy parking lot around 11:30AM.
63 Ranch Drive
Milpitas, CA 95035
(We usually meet in Great Mall, but I figured it's too busy during the weekend and the stop lights there aren't long enough to accommodate the number of cars we have for us to stick together)
2. Cruise all the way to Asilomar Beach in Monterey/Pacific Grove for photo opportunities.
3. Go eat possibly at the wharf?
4. Cruise back up North over to Manresa State Beach to
chillax and catch the sunset.

5. Have our 3rd annual football game.
6. Bonfire.
7. Open to ideas.

99% I'll go. Never met any of you, I am from the central valley. Heading up north that particular weekend and it would be cool to chill. hopefully I can get my DSLR camera by this time to take some cool pics!

Awesome! Certainly have never met you before. It's always nice to meet a new face. Definitely bring your camera. I'll be glad to share some knowledge I have with them too. What kind of DSLR do you have?
I got mine a year ago and love it. Wouldn't go anywhere w/ out it now.
Anyways, we have a Facebook page that we use more often than we do w/ newcelica.org
Check that out too if you can. Already 11 cars confirmed to go.

What dslr camera do you guys have? This isnt the place but i have a canon 50d and a 27-40 L F.4 for sale  . I have my canon 5dii that is my main.

going to be buying a T2i hopefully. I'm no pro but i want to be able to take good pics than with my iPhone lol.
Shane maybe next time! I'll be going up north to Sac town the week before and coming back down the weekend of the meet. Figured I would roll through the day of the meet then head home.

Canon 60D. Picked it over the 7D because I wanted the swivel screen to do videos. And it's not like I really need weather seal because I won't be shooting in the rain. How do you like the 5Dmkii? I'll pick that up someday when I step up my skills a bit more. Mainly shooting w/ my F/1.8 28mm prime lens.
Was looking at the F/2.8 Sigma 17-50mm for my next lens purchase.
Kind of wanted more zoom and a larger aperture than your L lens... Good luck w/ the sale though.

Hell yeah man... I use to be hella addicted to car meets back in the days. I haven't hosted meets as much as I use to... But hanging out last Saturday was fun. Down to chill w/ ya'll any day.

Ok, I made a poll a couple weeks ago to see which dates are best for you guys. Majority voted June 23rd.
However, I have considered the option of possibly having this pushed to July just because I know some of them will be available then. Please check the new thread w/ the new poll.

so judging by the agenda,it sounds like the meet isnt exactly at santa cruz or at least not by the boardwalk area.
Is this more of a cruise meet? Because I did some calculation.
From the plaza to Asilamor beach = 80 miles or 1 hr 30 min
Asilamor beach to Manresa State Beach = 38 miles or 48 mins

This meet isn't exactly in the boardwalk area... correct. You can say it's more of a cruise meet. I did caution that it'll be an extensive drive for some folks.
But we will be chillin' at the beach. Asilamor is more for sight seeing. We'll be doing mostly photoshoots there.
Manresa on the other hand will be where we'll have our annual football game/bonfire and whatnot.

I hope everyone is getting prepared. Please bring walky talkies if you have any. This will be a crucial device during our drive!
Footballs, frisbees, beach ball.... hell even Kites.... Bring em'!
If anyone would like to volunteer w/ firewood, that would be awesome as well. As usual, we can make s'mores during this meet.

Just put on my exhaust, intake, new oem brakes, new power steering pump, new oil pan gasket, full sound system, oil changed even did an engine flush wit new spark plugs so my bitch definitely ready to ride out btw this my first meet ever I'm in Chicago getting antsy to get back to Cali n pick up my car an meet all u OGs
