Oil recommendation

I bought a 2000 gt recently and looking to change the oil soon. Should I use 5w-30? The car has about 108k miles and it doesn't seem to be burning oil but I don't know if the previous owner used a higher weight of oil. I'm considering high mileage or synthetic 5w-30 with lucas to see how it goes.

I personally like Royal Purple. If you want to go synthetic, make sure you get a full synthetic and not a synthetic blend.

This topic has been gone over time and time again... If it doesn't burn any oil, then use nice fully synthetic oil. I use Castrol Edge 5w-30 is all of my vehicles.

I've used royal purple and Mobil 1 full synthetic. Really good oils, w.e. oil you use give it 2 tries to cycle the old one out

I actually found a great supplier of Eneos. I have really loved this oil since I started using it, which is about a year now. I'm not going to claim power gains or some shit like that, but with a 130k miles it idles like I just got it again...which is more than I could say for the mobile before it.

I think it's pretty much a personal call though. Good luck!

If you get thicker oil you will notice that your motor isn't moving as freely as with a thinner oil but im not sure if you will have an actual decrease in power since once you get into the higher RPMs you wont notice it at all. I hope that makes sense.

Mobil 1 full synthetic and k&n oil filter. Has a bottom ready for wrench and has better filtration than most. Look it up on YouTube.

Just get the OEM filter. They're the best and like $5. Cheaper then K&N and other brands.

I used to use Castrol GTX (I think they changed it to Syntec now), now using Mobil 1. Didn't notice any real differences between the two except that Mobil 1 seems not to gunk up as fast, although they're both good brands and a lot better than most other generic stuff out there. Just make sure you go with something that is fully synthetic and you should be fine.

Any quality, fully synthetic 5-30w oil will do. Since you're a new owner of a 2000 GT I would strongly suggest you check your oil each time you fill up your gas tank. Keep monitoring it 'til your next oil change. Enjoy!

I've used Mobil 1 Full Synthetic since I started driving, however last oil change I gave a shot to something new...Liqui Moly Longtime High Tech 5 W-30. I must say I am thoroughly impressed with this stuff. IMHO I feel the car runs much smoother and overall has better performance. You can check out all the specs on their webpage as follows....

Anyone else ever used it? Would like to hear others experience if so.

Mobil 1 is usually recognized as one of the better synthetics on the market, it's really good stuff. Be cautious with royal purple though, they have had to pay for than one engine due to their oil. Not saying it is bad stuff, just do a little research

I don't trust motor honey, it's way to thick and sticky, Lucas makes a comparable additive that's a lot better IMHO

I use ARAL 5-30. It is cheap so I change often and engine really quiets down and feels smooth.
