Spring Rate Database
Just an idea:
Can we put together a list of all the lowering springs (coil-over and otherwise) available for the celica and their corresponding spring rates and the manufacturer claimed drop? I'm looking for a different set of springs currently and I've noticed the rates can be somewhat hard to come by. Just kindof thought one main list would be a good thing. I'll get it started: Bilstein PSS Coilovers: 285 lb/in front and rear C-One Sport Springs: F: 258 lb/in R: 364 lb/in 1.3" SS Coilovers: F: 448 lb/in R: 560 lb/in Type-R Coilovers: F: 560 lb/in R: 560 lb/in D2 Coilovers: Front: 7 kgr/mm (392 lbs/in) Rear: 5 kgr/mm (280 lbs/in) Eibach Sportlines F: 178 lb/in 1.8" / R: 208 lb/in 2.4" (progressive spring rate) Pro-Kit F: 150 lb/in 1.2" / R: 203 lb/in 1.1" Espelir F: 168 lb/in 1.2" R: 213 lb/in 1.2" Ground Control Coilver Kits #8016 kit front:250lbs/in rear:420lbs/in Custom Ordered Spring Rates Available: 200 lb/in - 700 lb/in Hotchkis F: 164-242 lb/in 1.375" R: 1.875" 350-380 lb/in (progressive spring rate) TVS coilovers: F: 300 lb/in R: 450 lb/in JIC Magic SF-1 Coilover F: 336 lb/in R: 448 lb/in Ksport Kontrol Pro F:392 lb/in R:336 lb/in KW Variant 2 Coilovers: F: 340 lb/in R: 340 lb/in Megan Racing F: 250 lb/in 2.0" / R: 230 lb/in 1.9" Progress Tech F:1.6"/180 lb/in R: 1.8"/230lb/in RS*R Down F: 178 lb/in 1.6" / R: 226 lb/in 2.0" Skunk2 F: 84 - 190 lb/in 1.4" R: 117 - 229 lb/in 1.4" (progressive rate) Adjustable Coilovers: F: 446 lb/in R: 335 lb/in Swift Springs Sport Mach F: 111-185 lb/in 1.2" R: 151-213 lb/in 1.0" (progressive spring rate) Tanabe Sustec Pro S-S Type I&II F: 336lb/in R:336lb/in DF210 F: 2.2", 145 lb/in R: 2.5", 235 lb/in GF210 F: 162 lb/in R: 223.5 lb/in 1.5" NF210 F: 145 lb/in R: 190 lb/in 1.5" Tien S Tech F:168lb/in R: 224lb/in F/R 1.4" H Tech F: 145 / R: 207 F: 0.8" / R: 0.8" SS Coilover: F:280 R:390 SSP Coilover: F:390 R:500 Basic Coilover: F: 280 R: 390 Tokico HP Suspension Kit F: 145 lb/in R: 250 lb/in 1.25" TRD Coilovers: F: 200 lb/in R: 350 lb/in Toyota Stock:F: 136lb/in R:168lb/in Trial Max Coilovers F: 559.5 Lb/In R: 671.4 Lb/In Weitec F-Series Springs F: 341 lb/in R: 341 lb/in 1.6" Whiteline Control & Flatout Springs F: 176 lb/in R: 252 lb/in Zeal Function-X F&R: 448 lb/in Feel free to add info if you have some!

Has anyone figured out our motion ratios so these can be translated into suspension frequencies?
I used to write all of the spring rates down as I wandered across them. I think the compilation has been done before. BTW: I remember the sportivo front was the stock rear at 168. Here's a 2002 discussion http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=10953 dB Last edited by deltaB : 03-31-2007 at 08:45 AM. |

Oh cool, finally! I've been waiting for this kinda info for a long long time. Let's see what's missing that I can contribute:
The NEW RS*R Down Lowering springs: 1.6"F / 2.0"R is 178F/226R The NEW Megan Racing Lowering Springs: 2.0"F / 1.9"R is 250F/230R - There is a typo on there website, I had emailed them to verify the spring rates, and its suppose to be 250/230 instead of the wrongly published 275/250. I wrote down from some article that the Eibach Sportlines is: 1.8F/2.4R - 178R/208R (but I know that might be wrong, since its a progressive spring and should have a rating similar to the Hotchkis.)

One more thing, I'm guessing the TRD Lowering springs is the following rate:
160F & 212R Because they make that same drop in springs for the Scion TC at 1.25" drop and they state that TRD made the front 18% stiffer & 26% stiffer in the rear...which I'm guessing might be the same on the Celica. So I increased the F & R by 18% & 26% respectively. |

^^ Nice! Do we know if that is for their 'control' or 'flatout' spring?
I'll contact them and see if I can't find out. Edit: Looks like it's the same rate for both! List updated!

I'm actually pretty pleased with how the list is coming along, we have all the popular options covered, and we're even getting a good amount information on the exotic parts! Keep 'em coming everyone!
