was the only change the header?? if so that's pretty good gains. PFC would climb that graph much higher.

Last GB I sponsor here, that's for sure.

Well... maybe if I get an IC set-up prototyped for the Greddy.

Red, thanks for posting this -- very nice! Looking forward to seeing what happens with tuning

I would but it just seems like a total waste.. I mean eventually I will get a 2zz and 6 speed...

When I do that, I'll do a full build and greddy sc it.

...But I need one of those "Career" thingys first =/

I'll focus on suspension for now..

Not interested. Consumes too much of my time and energy.

Awesome numbers Red. I'll trade ya my dyno sheets for that one.

Jordan...I would have been easier if PPE would register and run their own GB, but they didnt seem all that excited about coming on these boards for some reason. I told them to get on here to field some questions, but I guess they would rather do it over the phone.

...and didn't Yoda say that?

Very nice gains especially with the $hitty exhaust. I guess i'm going to have to get one of these headers soon.

Somewhat concerned about the AFR on the PPE header. Am I correct to assume that you did a baseline dyno on the stock header, installed the PPE and then rolled it immediately back on the dyno? My concern is that with the learning stock ECU, I wonder how much of that gain is from leaning the car out, a gain that could go away after driving the car for a while? I'm by no means doubting the potential of the header, but rather if this test is representative of what you'd find on a stock ECU car?

Back when I did my AEM vs. Injen tests, I had the same dilema. I had seen a bunch of dyno charts claiming that the Injen made huge power over the AEM. Looking back on this now, and knowing that the MAFS reads lower in an Injen, we can assume that the Injen car would be running in a lower load cell meaning #1 more ignition advance and #2 less fuel. Those two factors alone would cause a significant bump in power. I didn't know that at the time, but regardless I decided that I wanted to test the AEM, install the Injen and do a bunch of driving, heading back to the dyno the next day (which had almost identical conditions). After the stock ECU had a chance to adjust to the Injen, this is what I got:

Which is why I've always recommended an AEM intake on a stock ECU car. Again, not trying to diminish the accomplishment, just making sure that its 100% applicable to a stock ECU car.

Ah yes, the "learn" feature. Yet another simularity between our ECU and the Lotus ECU that has been downplayed.

Over at www.elisetalk.com, they claim that their ECU was made by martians, while our lowly GTS ECU was made other people from Venus.

You assume incorrectly hehe . We actually did a baseline run and installed the PPE header the day after, drove the car for a good 3 days from normal city driving, to highway driving to "balls to the wall" WOT runs and then went back to the dyno and go this results. It is my understanding that the ECU had the sufficient time to learn the new header and adjust. The conditions at the dyno were pretty much the same since here in PR it always the same weather, hot and humid .

We plan to go back to the dyno with the same car, but this time with a PFC and see what it will do with a basemap and maybe some tuning.

On a side note - 176 HP is pretty good for just an injen CAI decat and 2.5" crushbent exhaust with a stock header

I've watched AFR's stablize while ON the dyno. The ECU begins adjusting things VERY quickly. I've found it takes about 15 - 20 minutes of driving at various load points for LTFT's to begin to stabilize, and any weird problems or foibles usually seem to crop up within a couple of trips. It should only take a week or more if someone hardly drives their car.

thermotec, as in the wrap stuff? i belive that would be the cheaper way to go...
but not as effective and doesnt prevent rust.
not to steal from the thread, but can the stock header take the extra heat by wrapping it with header wrap?

Yes, the wrap stuff. Yes, it ain't as efficient as coating. Yes, the stock header can take it.
